Grand Theft Auto: Vice City Stories is the PS2 port of the PSP prequel to Grand Theft Auto: Vice City (PS2). In this installment, players take the role of Victor Vance, the brother of Lance in GTA: Vice City (PS2). Rising from a trailer park, Victor and Lance set out to take over Vice City.

The gameplay is similar to recent GTA games. It is a third-person shooter and driving game that features very open, non-linear gameplay. Players take on storyline missions, set up businesses and safe houses, and build up their crime empire. For the first time in GTA, you can now bribe cops so that you can keep your weapons after getting busted. Players are also able to swim. The map is nearly identical to that in GTA: Vice City (PS2), but the game is said to be much bigger in terms of story and side missions.
