Lost Odyssey is a new Japanese Role-Playing Game (JRPG) IP targeted for the Xbox 360. The game is made by Mistwalker Interactive, the studio that made Blue Dragon, a JRPG for the Xbox 360 released in Japan earlier this year. The game will remind players of Final Fantasy games, with a fantasy world featuring high-tech cities but also swords and magic. The player takes the role of Kaim Argonar, a young looking 1,000 year old soldier pit in battle against an army of robots.

Combat is turn-based and similar to Blue Dragon. You have the option of attacking with your sword or casting offensive and defensive spells. The look of the game is more mature, rather than the cartoony look of Blue Dragon. Final Fantasy creator Hironobu Sakaguchi is producing the game. Famed Final Fantasy composer Nobuo Uematsu is creating the soundtrack.

Lost Odyssey Reiview - IGN: 8.2

IGN - February 6, 2008

"The political intrigue of city-states caught in a staring contest is just a sideshow for Lost Odyssey's true conflict. Kaim has lost his memories, the past 1000 years mysteriously stripped from him... Unlocking these memories proves the key to thwarting a sinister plot that threatens two worlds. It's a promising premise that's never fully realized."

Did you think Blue Dragon was the only game on Xbox 360 that would have you swapping discs as you progressed through the game? Think again – Lost Odyssey will be 1-upping Blue Dragon by packing in four discs.

1UP's Lost Odyssey Review 8/10

"Early on in Lost Odyssey... it becomes clear this is not the Japanese role-playing game of your childhood... If Sakaguchi intends to turn Lost Odyssey into a franchise -- and all indications are that he does -- I'd like to see these refreshingly adult themes expanded on further in future titles."

Lost Odyssey Hands-on Preview

Taking a handful of Japan’s gaming superheroes and having them collaborate on a Final Fantasy-esque JRPG is the equivalent of a slam dunk—speaking of which, manga mastermind Takehiko Inoue is on board for Lost Odyssey, which heads to the U.S. in February.
