Unreal Tournament 3 (UT3) is the next game in the Unreal Tournament series of first-person multiplayer shooters. Like previous UT games, UT3 is primarily an online multiplayer game with a single player mode for players to practice with AI bots. The story is minimal as players are pitted against each other in a series of shooting matches as part of a Sci-Fi tournament.
Epic promises the game will not be a prettier UT2004 but an entirely new game. The game features the Unreal Engine 3.0. UT3 will feature a map editor and several modes from previous UT games. However, UT3 will be dropping Bombing Run, Double Domination, and Assault modes in place for a new mode, "Unreal Warfare." This new mode features larger battles with many players and vehicles. AI bots are now smarter and will respond to simple commands over voice chat.

Unreal Tournament III on X360 released July 7th

We've just confirmed with Midway that Unreal Tournament III for Xbox 360 will hit the console on July 7. The Xbox 360 version will feature five "exclusive" maps, split-screen capabilities, two new characters and the all-new Warfare mode. Of course, the online fragfest will also feature all the benefits of Xbox Live.

IGN reports that the Xbox 360 version of UT3 will have five new "exclusive" maps, two new characters and includes two-player splitscreen. It will also contain the free maps available as DLC for the PS3 and PC versions of the game.
Jeff Morris, senior producer at Epic, tells the site he believes UT3 will be a reprieve for those with "tactical shooter fatigue." He stands by the game being an "unabashedly twitch" title.

A funny thing happened on the way to Unreal Tournament 3 coming to Xbox 360: It seems that Sony took a bigger liking to the game and managed to get Midway and Epic to okay having the PS3 be its exclusive console home for a while. However, the proverb "Good things come to those who wait" seems to have some validity here, because the Xbox 360 version will come with some additional content that wasn't originally going to be in the box.

"How did the modding situation with Microsoft work out?
Yeah. Well, we're still working on it, so I'm cautiously optimistic right now based on some conversations I had with John Shafner last week. Regardless, we know some of these great mods are going to play a role on Xbox 360, even if we have to get some people and bring them over ourselves. We'll figure it out. I don't think we're going to have user exchanged mods in the shipping version of the game because that's coming pretty soon.

This is a pretty delayed version of a game that already didn't get a huge amount of buzz after its release on the PS3. At least with Army of Two, the buyers don't know what they are getting into yet =). I think Army of Two stocks are on the high side as well.[ Speaker ] [ Level 20 ] [ Rank: 498 ]
