God of War: Chains of Olympus is the first God of War game made for the PSP and is an original game. The game promises to bring the epic scale of previous God of War games to a portable console, including over-the top combat and boss fights. Chains of Olympus is an original story which is a prequel set in the time between the murder of Kratos' family and the events of the first PS2 game that will flesh out the backstory of the main series of games.
The game is being develped by Ready at Dawn, the studio highly praised for Daxter (their adaptation of the Jax & Daxter series to the PSP). In addition, the same audio team and voice actors are being used for this game as for the console series. The developer has also stated that the game will feature unlockable content similar to the PS2 games, and will be roughly the same length.

The most obvious criticisms are that the story is short (between 5-6 hours the first time through)and that the game is missing some of the features from other God of War games. It offers multiple reasons to replay it (I'm currently at over 25 hours all added up, between playing a second time -- where you get to keep everything you unlocked the first time -- and playing on God Mode difficulty, which is almost as challenging as in past games).

God of War demo discs available at Best Buy

The demo disc has started popping up everywhere, giving gamers that missed a chance to get a demo disc from Sony another shot at giving Kratos' latest adventure a try. Best Buy is offering the demo disc with every pre-order.

When SCEA started taking applications for a free God of War: Chains of Olympus demo disc on its website in late April, it neglected to mention when those UMDs would actually reach gamers. Thanks to an e-mail sent out last night by the PlayStation Underground, we do.

Normally we'd toss in a "for a portable game" qualifier, but we really don't need to in this case. Chains of Olympus looks better than most PSP games, and easily hangs in the looks department with the best PlayStation 2 games.
