Fallout 3 is a role-playing game currently under development by Bethesda Softworks. It will be the third major game in the Fallout series, which has also spawned two spin-offs, Fallout Tactics, and Brotherhood of Steel. Unlike previous games in the series, Fallout 3 will be set on the East Coast of the United States.

Bethesda have announced their intention to make Fallout 3 similar to the previous two games, focusing on non-linear gameplay, a good story, and true "Fallout humor". Bethesda has also stated the game will be rated M for mature, and will have the same sort of adult themes, violence, and depravity that are characteristic of the Fallout series. Fallout 3 will use the same Gamebryo engine that was used in The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion and is also being developed by the same team.

Fallout 3 Has Over 200 Endings

kotaku - March 24, 2008

Now Bethesda's Todd Howard has appeared in the latest OXM podcast, saying that the game now has more than 200 different endings as of last week. 200 endings? That doesn't even seem like a real number, does it? Considering he's also saying the game is twice as long as they initially estimated (40 hours with side quests), I am pretty sure you could play the game forever.

360 is our lead dev platform,” says Bethesda

VG247 - April 17, 2008

“The 360 is our lead development platform, so we got it working on that one first,” he said. "I mean, we develop them all simultaneously, but one of them’s got to be the lead, so it was 360... But at this point all three of them are pretty much on par. The goal is that, if I get three versions in here and hide the console or PC and just had them running on the screen, that you wouldn’t be able to tell the difference.”

Fallout 3 Moves 4.7 Million Copies

Kotaku - November 6, 2008

Submitted by afsplat (130) at 8:17AM PST on November 6, 2008

Released just last Tuesday for the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and Games for Windows platform, Bethesda has shipped an estimated 4.7 million copies of the game to retail outlets all across North America and the UK, representing retail sales of more than $300 million - that's a million times the amount of money I have in my bank account right now. Of course those are shipping numbers, but the sales have been flowing quite nicely as well.
