The game looks and plays like an enhanced version of the previous games. Features like a multiclick swing meter, the music note that appears over your head when you time your shots properly, and the anime-style character design are all still intact. Of course, that leaves room for a graphical boost. Everything's running at a much higher resolution, and things like grass and trees look nice.

High Definition (HD) detail of course graphics accompanied with new, more accurate golf physics, brings a revolutionary new level of immersion to the already established signature style of pick-up and play gameplay. With vibrant new courses, zany new characters and a wealth of new online features, Hot Shots Golf 5 promises to enter the next generation strokes ahead of the competition.

There are plenty of spectators on the course, both human and non-human (a bear cheers for you in the background), but the game still uses the same mechanics. Luckily, players can now check their shots from various angles. It's a feature that really helps.
