The Last Remnant will be released on the Xbox 360 and PS3 by Square-Enix. Hiroshi Takai is directing the game, it is the first title by Square-Enix that utilizes Unreal Engine 3. Release Date TBA 2008.

Wired: So we were in the Last Remnant panel at GDC, with Square Enix.
I decide to ask a question.
"The Last Remnant," I said, "was originally announced to be Square Enix's first multi-platform game. But the PlayStation 3 version hasn't come out yet. Is it still happening?"
Silence.
More silence. Everyone's kind of glancing around.
Takai: "Well, as for the PS3 version, I can't say anything about that."
Me: "Alright, then."

The Last Remnant Gameplay Details

As some of you have already learned, the battles will be fought "between friendly and enemy unions," and it'll be up to the player to hand out commands to the ally units. This sounds very similar to a real-time strategy game, and the commands in question probably won't be unfamiliar to strat/RPG buffs.
