Silent Hill 5 will mark a return to the psychological roots that were present in Silent Hill 2 and that the team was interested in setting the game's atmosphere in a sunny environment gone wrong. The game will have similarities to Silent Hill 2's direction and character behavior, according to series composer and SH4 producer Akira Yamaoka. Yamaoka has commented that the game might not even be called Silent Hill 5, possibly indicating that Konami will scrap the numerical title and settle for a subtitle

The Silent Hill series has been a reliable provider of chills and thrills for video-game players, dating back to its PlayStation debut in 1999. Konami is hoping to keep the string alive this September with its latest entry in the franchise, Silent Hill: Homecoming. Konami's recent press presentation revealed the fundamental mission in making this new Silent Hill title, which was to keep the series' signature style.

Konami Digital Entertainment GmbH has announced the official title of its first Silent Hill game for PS3 and X360. Entitled Silent Hill: Homecoming, the game will be released end of September this year across Europe. The sixth installment in the classic video games series, Silent Hill: Homecoming introduces another protagonist to the mythos. The story follows Alex Shepherd, returning to his hometown of Shepherd’s Glen to investigate the sudden disappearance of his brother.
