First revealed by Game Informer Magazine, Prototype promises to be the first of it's kind. From what sounds like a simple sandbox game, Radical promises more.

Prototype has a 3 sided conflict that promises mystery, conspiracy, and unparalleled flexibility of combat and movement. They can do this because of their proprietary game engine designed by them and for them. Their Titanium engine is capable of having an unlimited draw distance with hundreds of people, props, and enemies all at once.

Currently, the release date is promised for 2008.

Similar to the issue that plagued Ratchet & Clank Future: Tools of Destruction back in 2007, those who pick up the PlayStation 3 edition of Radical's just-released super-powered action game may find themselves unable to start the game due to a bug.

Prototype Hands-on/American release June 9

IGN - April 8, 2009

After what seemed like forever, Prototype is officially heading to European stores on June 5, 2009 and North American stores on June 9, 2009 and bringing with it a New York City that is yours to destroy. You'll take on the role of Mr. Mercer, a memory-less shapeshifter who gains people's memories when he kills and consumes them (a process that has him sucking bodies into his own via some creepy black tendrils).

CVG Preview

CVG - August 9, 2007

New York City. A hooded figure stands motionless in the centre of Times Square. It's morning and there are people everywhere. And we're not talking about the usual video game approximation of a crowd. It's a kinetic cluster of bodies merging and stirring through sun-bleached streets. The camera swings upwards revealing vast, intricately-rendered skyscrapers reaching towards a cloudless blue sky, turning white as the harsh sunlight hits their sides.
