MAdWorld is a crude and brutal action game with a heavy doze of black humor like few titles (if none) on the Wii. Its been handled by "Platinum Games". This fresh studio is formed of experienced developers that left development houses like Capcom and Clover, creative minds such as Tatsuya Minami, Hideki Kamiya, Atsushi Inaba, Shigenori Nishikawa and Shinji Mikami.

Due to the heavy representation of violence the main target for this Japanese developed game is the western market. Played from a third person perspective, features a very stylized look with minimalist use of color. The visual impact is amplified by the stark contrast of the black, red and white colors. With an art design clearly inspired by Frank Miller´s "Sin City".

Here are the key aspects acording to Lead Designer Shigenori Nishikawa:

"Mad World is made up of two concepts. "The first key concept within Mad World is the stark black and white graphics. This is to further emphasize the violence, as represented by the stark red blood. The other key concept is that we didn't want to create a game that was depraved or perverse, but rather, featured comical, over-the-top violence so that anyone could enjoy it." At this, there's more laughter in the audience.

"We're thrilled about MadWorld. The truth is, we were so happy to see evidence that Mikami, Inaba, and Kamiya's crew was back to work after leaving Capcom that we'd probably even be excited about a card RPG. But MadWorld is no card RPG." Yeah, that´s it: no card RPG. Each new screen that appears on the net, the more excited we are. Follow the link for more information.

MadWorld: Promising New IP For Wii.

IGN - May 1, 2008

"Mad World's black and white visual style has clearly been inspired by Frank Miller's Sin City, a truth that Nishikawa admits. The look is beautiful and boldly different than any other videogame presentation, hardly surprising from the talent pool responsible for such artsy graphic styles as those powering Okami and Viewtiful Joe."

"I realize that not everybody will find MadWorld's unique visual and aural presentation appealing, but to me, the game is an instant collector's item and a Wii showpiece, not just for its amazing style, but for its label-busting content."
