From the creator of Lemmings and Crackdown, APB is an MMORPG-like game coming out late 2008 for the Xbox 360 and PC. It will be "grind-less" and be more like Counterstrike in that it's crooks vs cops. It is a sandbox title when a crime isn't going down but when a crime goes down, an APB is sent out that invites players to play.

The game will also make use of Last.FM for its music streaming and to match player music tastes.

Realtime Worlds just showed the biggest surprise of GDC.

APB looks like the simultaneous appeasement of every wish/[complaint] list I've written over the years about both MMOs and open world games. It's a game that's combining both of those genres and stripping each of many of their respective annoyances.

Team Talk: Dear Realtime Worlds...

Teamxbox - April 25, 2008

A recent blast corralled by our news guru Cesar told us that Scottish developer of video game Crack...down secured BIG money for what they called "accelerated growth and innovation." We knew Realtime was up to something, and we knew it had to do with A.P.B (slated for 2009), but we couldn't quite understand why they needed so much loot.
