Kirby: Squeak Squad is a side scrolling platform game where the player takes the role of Kirby in a new adventure to save Dream Land. The story begins with Kirby set to eat a strawberry shortcake at a picnic when out of no where someone steals the cake. Kirby deducts that it his arch-nemesis King Dedede who has stolen the cake and Kirby sets off to deliver justice. However, his plan is then complicated by a band of treasure hunting thieves called the Squeak Squad.

The player controls Kirby using the d-pad instead of the stylus. The A button jumps and the B button has Kirby inhaling his enemies. When Kirby eats an enemy, he gains a special ability. For the first time, Kirby’s abilities now interact with the environment, for example the ice ability can allow Kirby to freeze water. Kirby can also store enemies in his stomach to save the ability for later which are then accessed on the touch screen. There are over 25 abilities in the game and they can be combined for even more powerful abilities.

Nintendo has stamped a European release date of 22nd June on Kirby Mouse Attack. It's a platform game for DS that does away with almost all of the fancy touch-screen input, instead falling back on more traditional d-pad controls. However, it will still make strong use of both screens and feature wireless multiplayer.

Review: "If you like Kirby, you'll like this. There are a few twists in the game, but overall this is a new Kirby adventure for your DS. No more, no less."
