@welshbloke, it doesn't sound like a limitation of the PS3 as much as the code is designed specifically for the 360 software architecture and Ubisoft doesn't think it's worth their time to write a PS3 version.
This is similar to games written for Windows using Direct X and then studios foregoing a Mac version (Macs don't have Direct X). This doesn't mean the PS3 can't handle the game, it just couldn't run the game in its current form due to software issue and the studio doesn't want to spend the resources to make it work (cost vs potential revenue).
