But, then there are the things we disagree on. To be clearer, Blu Ray is not 2x bigger. Is it 15 GB to 25GB per layer. Close to 2x, but lets not seem biased in our posts :).
But for this format war, the only thing that helps Sony is that more storage is very helpful in gaming and data back up. So, the PS3 and computer could push Blu Ray to victory. But as far as movies go, there will never be a need for more memory for movies. Right now we are at single layer high def formats. Both camps have already announced 2 layer versions (but I dont think they have released them yet). So HD DVD will be able to hit 30GB easy. I know, that puts Blu Ray at 50GB now. But with 1 game making games that need 2 DVDs (no more then 18GB), I doubt we are getting anywhere near the need for the 25GB per disk requirement. But, even if we do exceed the 25GB, 50GB whatever, both formats have been working on triple, and even quad layer disks. That is upto 60GB HD DVD and 100GB Blu Ray. But, I dont believe that will be used for any more then data back up.
I personally favor the HD DVD because it is cheaper and equal quality. Also, I hate the Sony name and company. Everything they sell is overpriced (even Blu Ray) and the quality is rarely even comparable to competitors at their price points. But, if Blu Ray wins, I will eventually get it. Just like when HDMI took off.
