Really? Not as many recognizable 1st-party Nintendo games? Let's see: -Zelda: Twlight Princess -Metroid Prime 3 -Super Paper Mario -WarioWare -Mario Party 8 -Mario Strikers Charged -Pokemon Battle Revolution -Wii Play
Also lesser knowns such as: -Big Brain Academy -Excite Truck -Battalion Wars 2 -Donkey Kong Barrel Blast
That's not bad for the first year of a system. Just about every major character they have is featured in a game and the next 4 months will bring games like Mario Galaxy, Smash Bros and hopefully Mario Kart.
In comparison, what 1st party games has Sony offered? -Eye of Judgment -Folklore -Formula One Championship -Genji -Heavenly Sword -Lair -Motorstorm -NBA 08 -Ratchet and Clank -Resistence -Singstar -Warhawk
Interestingly, both companies have put out about the same number of 1st party titles. However, I think it's quite obvious that Nintendo's tend to feature more recognizable characters than Sony's. I agree with you that Mario sell on Nintendo systems. But there are already 4 Mario-themed games on the system, so it's hard to argue that there's a lack of recognizable titles.
