I think you are correct in many ways. I don't believe it was Sony's fault concerning the Metal Gear issue, but as a gamer, it could be viewed as part of the 'Sony Experience', so it could get part of the fallout, whether deserved or not.
I don't think anyone is buying a ps3 because of home, but it appears to keep getting pushed back further everytime it gets close. It could end up being the rainbow, with no end in sight. Most of what I hear, is that some are intrigued by the idea, but very unsure of how useful it will be, or how long it will hold before becoming boring. Of course it's hard to say, without seeing it in action. It cannot trump the Achievement system of the 360. Who's going to go back to play 2 years worth of games to get their 'trophies'?
