From further down the page, he explains how he got those numbers:
"I logged intenet traffic, and extrapolated the data, therefore it's not entirely original. It's impossible at the moment to actually get *real* up-to-the-date numbers for every game, as some game's leaderboards are refreshed deleting every gamercard that's played the game, and some don't reveal, or make finding numbers, easy."
Seems kinda sketchy to me, but I really know nothing about the method he describes.
All your survey says is that you spoke with 52 people, most of which are fans of multiplayer FPS games. It's not a representative sample of the market as a whole.
The 360 has been on the market for 2 years now, and people shouldn't have to speculate about it picking up scraps off of Wii sales. Like justcrim said, your info is kinda patchy...no mention of what other systems the people own, etc. From what you've said it looks like only 9 people have a console out of 52 when I would suspect that many of them already own a 360 and you didn't mention it.
Also, wanting something and purchasing something are two different things. I've seen a lot of talk about the so-called "Wii60" but I've seen no indication that it happens more often than multiple console purchases did in the past.
Having said all that, please keep posting on here and feel free to argue your points with us. I'd be interested to see you elaborate on some of what you wrote.
I love the Xbox 360, call me a fanboy if you will, but even I look at things like this and poke holes in it. I know this was just mainly for your own personally questions of the world. But, I wonder why PS3 is a no show. Did all asked say they dont want a PS3? Was PS3 even an option? If you didn't include the PS3 it narrows the answers to a point that it is almost forced into the way you want the survey to go.
Again, this isn't to say that what you did didn't have merit, but it really holds no value as a survey, and is more of just a collection of opinions. Great news for us Xbox 360 fanboys though :P.
@sam300, In your college, perhaps. The demographics of your sample is severely limited. If you were to take the survey among a number of colleges, your survey would have more weight, but then again, it would still be limited to college students.
"but 38 think the xbox 360 is better for multiplayer FPS action. " The Wii has yet to get a multiplayer FPS that is as good as what the 360 has been getting for two years now so your statement is quite a given already, don't you think?
Many Wii purchasers, are considering either trading or buying an xbox 360. the wii is great for multiplayer sports action but lacks the graphics for single player multiplayer and so lacks longevity... And the xbox 360 is cheap enough to allow many to get both. I got a feel from my friends, but decided to do an informal survey in Hayden College in Northwood Hills London Enlgand. (this hopefully will have some correlation with american tasts) From an sample of 52 students surveyed randomly 41 play games at least occasionally . Of these 36 would like to have the wii but 38 think the xbox 360 is better for multiplayer FPS action. 9 already had a wii, and 6 of these would want to swap or get an xbox 360 as well. Out of these the three that would not consider getting an xbox 360 were all girls.
if given a choice between a Wii and a xbox 360 35/40 would take a xbox 360 and 39/40 would want both, instead of a high end playstation 3.
I'd like some input on lifetime sales here since there seems to be alot of upwards pressure.
From what I know Japan is almost a lost cause for this machine and EU is now turning to the PS3.
America seems to be 'the' market for the X360.
We are projecting 60 million in sales of which approx 40 million will be coming from the US even if current sales percentages continue. Even the 'mighty' PS2 has only sold 39 million in the US after 7 years of unprecedented sales...
How the heck are we predicting 60 million Xbox 360s?
I don't follow the X so I'd really like to have some input to help with my decision making but right now I'm short on this.
This is another stock showing a very ridiculous gap between the lows and highs it reached ~OCT 18th. The difference was almost 20%. Going from 5814 DKP to 6881 DKP.
Maybe, I'm just guessing. Maybe somebody needed money elsewhere to invest and thats why it dropped. The console lifetime stocks just go up and down all the time. Thats not so unusual.
