2 New SKU for the X360 BEFORE Xmas? That would be a smart move. Only a rumor right now ... http://kotaku.com/gaming/rumor/mole-reports-new-360-bundle-new-core-system-304237.php
The first is a somewhat uninspiring bundle, featuring Forza 2 and Marvel Ultimate Alliance in a single box (like the old Jet Set/GT bundle on the first Xbox). Both the Premium and Elite will see this bundle. The second is a brand new Core model, which features HDMI, a wireless controller, 256MB memory card and five XBLA arcade games (Boom-Boom Rocket, Pac-man, Uno, Feeding Frenzy, and Luxor 2) on a disc.
"If you haven't watched Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex, do so now
Starz Media today announced it has signed a deal with Microsoft. Under terms of the agreement, the company's Manga Entertainment library of anime titles will be made available over Xbox Live Marketplace. Titles such as Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex, Street Fighter II V and Astro Boy can be viewed, starting today."
The calculation from a four to five-week month should be 1.25 * 277 = 346, so it's "an extra 50k" units. Even 65k seems to me fairly conservative for a game that the same market expects to sell close to 3 mln in its first two weeks.
I'm not getting into the "everyone who wants Halo3 already has a 360" argument, it's getting a bit long in the tooth - but I'm lengthening my position a bit thanks to your comment :-)
@Alpha, I think people may also be pricing in continued momentum from the price cut. But yes, we are looking at significant sales growth for the Xbox 360 in September with these orders on the future.
400,000 Xbox 360s to sell in September? I see we are expecting Halo 3 to dramatically increase Xbox 360 sales in September. This is even considering the fact that it is a five week retail month.
Just in case people missed it, Pachter is forecasting 115,000 Xbox 360 units sold in the US for the month of July. This is slightly below the current estimate on the Xbox 360 July future.
@welshbloke, heh things like that are always mind boggling. In the case of Amazon, the have so many products they might not even know this apparent pricing question exists. Or they may just be banking on people not seeing the newer model and just buying the older model. I am sure that happens quite often. Then they can liquidate more inventory at original price.
