Is it possible to reverse a mistaken transaction ? I thought I was buying it at 900K, and only after buying the Call of Duty 5 I realized that it is a 9 Million transaction. Even Halo couldn't reach that level in a month.
@apujanata, It's not 5m, It's 4.5m and it was clearly the shipments figure (like every other numbers included in any company's PR.) And I don't think that Gears of War is still an active title so imo retailers haven't ordered additional copies or else we should have seen a PR about it breaking 5m mark in E3. Microsoft in the past included sales of original Halo (PC SKU) in their PR so I don't know why it's so surprising to do it now with Gears of War. Anyway, people can invest on this stock as far as they can. I will short it as far as I can, hell I already invested 10m DKP on it in short position.
Btw, this is my guess about Gears of War (360) sales: NA - 2.8m UK - 650k Germany - not released France << 100K Spain << 100K Japan < 100k
@Just_Ben, "I find it hard to believe that it didn't get an additional 1 million units afterwards"
IMO, since the 3 Million is for launch until 15 January 2007 (holiday period), and the fact that X360 games are known to have a shorter legs (compared to Nintendo games), there is a possibility (50%, IMO) that GoW sales didn't manage to reach 4 Million YET.
Additional reason is because during 2007 holiday season, X360 have the best lineup ever (COD4, Halo 3 etc), and I don't think GoW, an one year old game by holiday 2007, are getting any significant sales since the competition are so tough.
Is there any # for the PC version ? Is it OK for me to expect that out of those 5 million GLS, instead of it being X360 version only, it is 3.9 Million X360, and 1.1 Million PC ?
"Because it was an MS Pr guy (from the Xbox part of ms), why should he include it?" He SHOULDn't include it, but it does not mean he DIDn't include it. Including the PC version # means increased total #, which made it more impressive, and give "impression" that X360 is a "better" platform to develop on, which will make developer more interested to develop games on X360, compared to PS3 or Wii.
@Just_Ben, What's your reason? There's no reason for them to do so. It would be stupid for them to exclude sales of one SKU from their PR while they could draw a better picture of their franchise and its popularity if they didn't. I can assure you that 360 SKU hasn't reached to 4m mark yet (and probably won't reach ever.)
@Just_Ben, Where did you get that 5m sales for GoW? I saw people repeatedly using it but I couldn't find any source for it. At GDC Epic Revealed that Sales of GoW had reached to 4.5m copies and I'm pretty much sure they talked about 360 and PC SKU combined. The 360 SKU alone probably hadn't reached 4m at the time and I'm almost sure hasn't reached yet.
