I now believe firmly that the PSP Price Drop in NA is only due to the fact that retailers threatened to drop it if Sony did not drop the price. Why? Because the PSP is not getting a price cut anywhere else in the world, EU, AU, & JA have already reported no. The price drops, but the minimum investment is still in the vicinity of $200 before you even buy a game. It's hard to compete with the DS' price advantage.
the new price cut should help slightly boost psp sales. but if they really want to sell more they should release the white psp in north america. persoanlly i would buy a white psp to go along with my other psp and i know many people would do the same.
kspraydad do a quick look over of other posts & news articles before posting. I had posted the Kotaku figures for PS3 in comments and then you posted the same thing 2 posts later. Then I posted a news article on the PSP Price Cut & noticed you also posted the same article in comments.
Were you planning on picking up a Sony PSP tomorrow from your local Gamestop or EB Games? Excellent. Were you planning on paying for it? Super excellent. As a reward for your unquestionable moral values, you'll be given a $30 discount on that purchase of "the past". You see, as of April 3, the PSP Core Pack is being marked down from $199.99 to $169.99.
Gamestop and EB Games have already received the promotional materials (as depicted above) and instructions (shown after the break) for the long overdue price drop and will no doubt have it ready to greet you within the next 24 hours. For those still wary of the giggling miasma of April Fool's still lingering in the air, rest assured that we've verified this information with Gamestop. Happy PSP... ing.
the problem with the psp isnt that a great game system is that many used psp's are out on the market which are practically brand new and for very cheap prices. you can go to a highschool and buy one for $50 everything included and for another $10 you can get 2 games. but the root of the problem is that many people just dont have the time to play it and the game selection is really bad so some games sell and others just flat out dont. consider the fact that most psp owners are non-gamers or casual gamers you can expect a cooling off of the market for a couple of months then it will pick up around maybe end of june or somewhere in july. around the same time game sales will soar since many ppl. will have the free time to play it and spend money on games. personally the psp should sell maybe 37 million units- 39 million units unless the white psp is realesed in the u.s.
The camera attachment to the PSP looks promising, however i am yet to find a shop selling this, i think that with this hardware the PSP sales could recieve another boost.
If you want to get a handheld console, and don't know what to get, look no further than the psp. With loads of features and games, it is definitely a must have.

Of course...in Canada we have been paying $171 USD for the Core for the last 6 months (at least at Walmart and RCSS).
