@kspraydad, I'm thinking about getting the GPS for PSP. But I don't know how much that will cost.
I'm hoping for some more AAA games for PSP and DS, but I also wouldn't mind seeing a new Nintendo or Sony portable. But I think Nintendo will come out with a new portable first, maybe in 2010. Then Sony will release PSP2 in 2011.
I have stopped checking the FCC as frequently and actually last checked on the 12th...this announcement came out on the 13th and I found it on some site and verified.
I think the PSPCHINA.Net story from last month was pretty strong so I think we will see the integrated mic and revamped home button. SONY is going to want to have PSP positioned to use with HOME and requiring the headset is a pain.
I'm thinking a battery revamp might be in there too (see recent dropping of Extended battery pack for PSP news) for anti pandora reasons.
Wish list:
No HDD/Flash yet but a second MemSticks slot would be cool, built in camera or built in GPS would be nice. Cost on GPS would be recovered through $ for maps.
Why has the psp price pushed up to 70million? its never going to hit that. The psp has recently hit 30m that should send the price down. Its been out now for 2 years I think the most it will achieve is 50million.
The file pspbtcnf_02g.bin 'could' be interepreted as 'psp battery config ...' (though others have suggested other possible meanings).
So...a unknown firmware file in December and now a new submission in Feb...somethings afoot.
I too truly hope it is a hack stop...I understand the 'homebrew' scene but the amount of piracy it leads too (check out the torrents for riped umd) is awful.
@kspraydad, Of course I do! I wouldn't ignore one of my favorite SE members! Oh wow, I'm surprised to read about your battery anaylsis. If that is true, I am actually glad! I hope Sony does away with people using custom firmware and roms!
Based on a comment at PSP Fanboy to the article I went over the docs a little more and they seem to be testing 3 different battery setups. This is then being seen as perhaps SONY trying to alter the hardware to stop the Pandora's Battery Custom Firmware exploit.
"What changes will be made to the PSP are unclear at the moment, but we'd postulate that these are simple cost-reducing measures, and is not indicative of a new PSP series. Why? Sony would most likely file a new model number altogether in that regard.
We doubt Sony will give specifics regarding this situation, but stay tuned for any new developments."
