It would mean 20%, not 25%, and that figure isn't beyond the realms of possibility, GTA reached a higher figure if you factor in the relativity of the userbases. GoW3 is a single platform release as well, and will likely have very long legs.
That being said I agree the figure of 5 million is overvalued, but such is the traits of TSE, it wont go down until it is near release or a shortwhile after once some sales data comes out.
We'll say, for argument's sake, that when God of War 3 is released, there are 25 million PS3's out there... How is one game going to sell 5 million - or to 25% of *ALL* PS3 owners, that's insane isn't it?
Maybe I'm missing something?
I think other people's predictions of 3 million seemed a lot more reasonable, even if it means outselling it's previous installments. Surely 5 million is ludicrous...
@JoshuaJSlone, Some game that I recall (none on PS3 that I am aware of): Animal Crossing : Wild World, NDS (blow away N64 and GC version) NSMB blow away every Mario Game not named "Super Mario Brothers". SMB was bundled with NES, and NSMB is not bundled with DS. DQVII is higher than previous DQ (1 - 6, if you separate DQ4 remake and DQ4) FFVII is much higher than previous FF (1 - 6, in Japan. Not sure about WW, forgot the #)
Of course, the above mentioned are "special case", unique things that "overperform". The standard is sales # going down. :)
@apujanata, Hmm. I know there are some cases where a PS3 game sells better than the immediately preceding entry on another console (DMC4 > DMC3 comes to mind), but are there any examples of where a game has blown away all previous entries?
@Heloise10, I really wish there are a list of who is long or short significantly on a certain stock. Something like Just_ben's bot, but only for this stock.

That's with the help of Japan, I would assume - as far as I've seen, God of War isn't as strong a release in that region.
Still, it's a very good point.
