if retail pass on the full price increase then I think this will have a significant knock on effect. Especially if rumours of an upgraded arcade with a hard drive prove to be founded and the price remains the same.
@PhilHarrision, I mean for hardware and software related to consoles. I don't think they will raise PS3 prices, if they were in Wii's position yes because Wii has already done what it needed to do regardless of how it does for the rest of this generation.
@welshbloke, I can't remember hardware or software ever going up in price later in a generation in the past 25 years, especially years after launch, even if currency values depreciated [in comparison to Yen]. But this will probably only have a small effect on their sales, at least in the short run.
Nintendo has said that it is to raise the price of the Wii in the UK due to the depreciation of the pound.
The system has a recommended retail price of GBP 179.99 in the region, and with a price hike of around GBP 18 – 20, will put considerable pressure on retailers' margin.
According to game site IGN's Wii podcast, the Wii MotionPlus is delayed. According to Nintendo, it's not.
All of this Wii MotionPlus delay talk is pure bunk, says Nintendo. Why? "No date was ever announced for MotionPlus — so technically it can't be delayed," Nintendo told game site CVG.

According to the team, who are often aware of Nintendo-related events well before their official announcement, "Nintendo is internally struggling with Wii MotionPlus, trying to figure out a few hiccups" which would delay the release of the peripheral past its original June release date.
In addition to the hardware delays, it was also rumoured that Wii Sports Resort would be pushed back along with it.
“…third-party publishers are aligning more towards the Wii console this year given the large (and rising) installed base and lower development costs for the Wii console. …we expect third parties to take share from Nintendo.” - Sterne Agee analyst Arvind Bhatia
Revealed on Nintendo's Japanese Wii accessory Web site, the controller looks like a bulkier, fancier version of the standard Classic Controller. The controller also adds a second row of shoulder buttons, similar to the now-familiar DualShock set-up.
