This is an interpretation which I believe to be logical. The article states (in itself and through links to previous stories) that Konami used the NDA to prevent mention of these issues. I feel that it is logical to assume that they would not use an NDA to prevent _positive_ comments in reviews.
This is still unconfirmed as we haven't yet seen review scans, but word has it that Japanese magazine Famitsu is giving upcoming PS3 title Metal Gear Solid 4 a perfect 40/40. Famitsu has only done this seven times...This makes MGS4 the first PLAYSTATION 3 title to get the coveted 40/40 score.
"On the eve of Metal Gear Solid's release, Gamasutra sits down with producer Ken Imaizumi and AP Ryan Payton to look back on the game's creation, its eschewing of vertical slice development, and the reality that Grand Theft Auto IV is a "hard act to follow".
This review won't change my decision to buy the game, but I'm still surprised. Though, from what I read, EDGE gave 8/10 to MGS2, MGS3, Gears of War and Bioshock aswell.
MGS4 is not the game it could have been; nor is it the game it would have been had the series grown with the benefit of hindsight; nor is it the game it should have been if you believed that early trailer. But it is faithful to its fans, its premise and its heart, delivering an experience that is, in so many ways, without equal. In years to come, as people stand before the grave marked ‘Tactical Espionage Action’, they’ll feel little choice but to salute.
Well of course I kinda agree with you at some points. It's 2 different reviewers, and the genre is not exactly the same (MGS can be played either as FPS or 3rd person though). But exactly thats the reason why you choose an FPS player to review a FPS game... so people can compare reviews to each other.
But I still think its just strange to see the exact same score for The Club and MGS. Just doesn't look right :p
