FF Sales compared through PS1 & PS2 console transitions, FF games compared by platform, analysis of whether FF is a "system seller," 1st week vs total FF sales in JA, FF XIII sales predictions, and more including tables.
An aspect of the game we haven't heard about previously is a type of "split-screen" that shows different characters in different places at the same time.
There is this data of US sales : http://farm1.static.flickr.com/219/501491516_5b3bf70bd7_o.png Japan sales : http://www.the-magicbox.com/Chart-JPPlatinum.shtml http://www.japan-gamecharts.com/ps2.php
In it, US FF7 is only 2.7 Million. Japan FF7 is only 3.2 Million (Famitsu, sold). Magicbox is using shipped #, which is 3.93 Million. Total FF7 : 6 Million (Japan + US only)
US FFX is 2.4 Million. Japan FFX is 2.3 Million. Total FFX : 4.7 Million (Japan + US only).
I choose FF7 and FF10 since they are the first game on a new platform, just like FF13.
Since PS3 H/W sales is much lower compared to PS1 and PS2, how come the total # is still 8 Million ? If FF13 managed to get FFX # in Japan & US (which is not guaranteed based on PS3 trend), that mean the expectation for Europe + Other is 8 - 4.7 = 3.3 Million, which is a tad too optimistic, IMO.
6 Million or 5 Million is more reasonable.
Is anyone in the Top 50 keep this stock up above its reasonable # ?
@-THE-RAY-, I hear you. I hadn't been here in a few months, but after reading something, I decided to check up on my stocks. I saw this, and my jaw nearly hit the floor. I mean, I sure made a lot of dkp and thank god I was able to sell before this stock bottoms out. Because as you say, Honestly... 8 million? Not a snowballs chance in hell with this title sell this much.
I understand what you're saying, but PS2 sales clearly show that the PS2 still has a greater mindshare than than the 360 and PS3 (regardless of what gaming sites/magazine are reporting on).
Sure, a few million players have picked up Gears of War. However, tens of millions more don't have a 360 but still have a PS2, so why would that even matter (nevermind comparing a JRPG to an American FPS)?
@Laoldar, I just mean the attention isn't there so much by that point (compared to when the first FF game of the console came out). When FFIX came out, the PS2 could easily play it as well...but less people want to play a last gen game when the Xbox 360 was already out for a year...games like Gears of War were coming out the same time as FFXII in the US. My argument is that FFXII had less mindshare than FFX due to the mindshare of PS2 games at their respective points in time...not because FFXII was an inferior game.
The PS2 has outsold the PS3 worldwide for nearly the entire year (aside from two distinct spikes), so I wouldn't consider the PS3 launch as a reason for lower sales (the PS3 could play it anyway).
