Those of you who crave a more hands-on experience should order their copy of LittleBigPlanet from Circuit City, where the preorder bonus will be an exclusive sticker book, with real physical stickers. It doesn't appear the preordering online will yield this bonus, so use this store locator to find a Circuit City location near you to preorder.
SCE has revealed that the producer of LittleBigPlanet wrongly told journalists that Little Big Planet will be region locked. SCE just posted up "This is in fact not the case, and all shared levels in the game will be available worldwide."
Now there are a set of pre-order bonus goodies which have our minds reeling from the choice. From the looks of things, these five bonus items will be available from separate retailers. More details on the how, whys and wherefores are yet to come, but what we do know is that choosing between any of them is going to be incredibly difficult.
I don't get it. What kind of image does this "sackboy" projected ? Somehow, I am reminded of Abe from "Oddworld", and his special skills.
Am I the only that think sackboy are not as endearing as Mario, or as heroic as Marter Chief ? I think it is better for SCE to go with Kratos, Rachet or any other characters they already have.
Sony is preparing Little Big Planet's Sackboy to take on the hefty role of a PlayStation 3 mascot, according to a report from Advertising Age. We know that the company is counting on the downloadable game to sell hardware, but the planned marketing push goes much deeper than that. "We want LittleBigPlanet to lead the charge into a new genre of gaming and turn Sackboy into the next emblematic character for the PS3," said SCEA marketing manager Mark Valledor. "This is a very big title for us."
Target is offering up pre-sale cards for LittleBigPlanet that claim an October 21st release date for this eagerly awaited game. We've known it would be coming (hopefully, keep your cute little fingers crossed) in October of this year, and hopefully this date won't be changing. Plus we're still itching to get our hands on a demo before then so we can practice our sponge-collecting skills.
"What we're trying to do with LittleBigPlanet is almost iTunes meets eBay in the sense that once an individual or a developer has qualified by producing certain levels or certain add-ons, they will then be able in the future to exchange these and make money out of them," Reeves notes.
Former Sony Worldwide Studios exec Phil Harrison's influence at the early stages of LittleBigPlanet was "completely key and pivotal" says Alex Evans. "With Phil, at the very beginning, the amazing thing was that he got it," the Media Molecule co-founder told GamesIndustry.biz. Evans said Harrison pushed them - correctly - towards what they most wanted to do, with great clarity and perspective.
- There's "a whole heap" of levels that come with the game. "They are strung together in the form of a story," said Healey. "A very loose story, but incredibly funny at certain points." - You can make private levels and give keys to friends. - Sackboy plushies confirmed! Said SCEA PR Brandon, "It's on the way. Details will be emerging shortly." - PlayStation Eye support confirmed. "For example," said Heley, "you can wear a cardboard box and put a sticker of yourself there."
