Alan Wake developer Remedy Entertainment is unfazed by criticisms of long development times, and has hinted that it will take just as long on its next project if necessary.
Remedy has in recent times been subjected to criticisms for taking noticeably prolonged amounts of time developing its most recent title, Alan Wake.
Xbox 360 exclusive psychological action thriller Alan Wake is hitting Spring 2010, telling the story of a bestselling author's battle with writer's block. Obviously, that battle gets a little more interesting when shotguns are involved.
In response to Crimson Falcon. There will be no multiplayer component to Alan Wake. This can be confirmed in the official FAQ on remedies web site, AlanWake.com.
The information you relate about Remedy would imply they won't release the title until its ready, likely when it would receive high 80s to 90s on Metacritic. The Metacritic IPO is already forecasting a pretty high rating, so this future's price would be in line with what you describe.
The Game is still in development. Remedy are a small company that develops internally. From what I know, they tend to be a little too perfectionist about thier work, and are always very concerned about the "mood" of their games. If you have played Max Payne 1 or 2, this would be self evident.
I have been following this game since it was first revealed in 2005 and highly anticipate it's release. There is still no release date information available for the project, but I very firmly believe it will be out in 2009, w/ a showing at E3 this year.
Hope I don't look back on this a year from now and look the fool.
What is going on with this game ? From 2007 Preview, then delayed to Feb 2008, then E3 2008, then TGS 2008, the news is almost always delay and more delay.
It is even baffling that remedy entertainment's last game release is in 2003, Max Payne 2. That is 5 years ago. What is going on with this company so that it need to take 5 years to develop a game ?
I am seriously asking these questions, since I didn't play Max Payne 1 & 2, and also not familiar with Remedy Entertainment.
