I thought so too, but the more I read about this game, the more I feel that it is currently undervalued. It seems like Webzen finally has a winner with this one, the game that will finally show the promise of the FPS MMO genre. Several other reasons why I think this stock should be at least 50DKP are stated here. It should probably be more around 70DKP, but that may change as more information is released.
Article talks about the different aspects of combat in Huxley. Also contains links to previous articles in the series that week detailing the progress of the game, the various avatars you can make and city life. Quotes from article "There are hundreds of weapons in each category", "There's also the skill system to add some depth to Huxley. Examples are one that drops a flash-bang once your stamina drops under a certain amount, affording you a chance to escape."
This game looks to be undervalued, while it is a valid point that previous MMOFPSs have failed or not met expectations, there is usually a time when a particular genre matures, and this game (especially when looking at the gameplay videos), and along with Webzen's other game, All Points Bulletin, look to be a solid offerings that will push the MMOFPS genre forward.
If their server technology is implemented well, it is possible that this will be a hit both home and abroad, leading me to believe that sales of 500k minimum are possible if they allow this game to mature beyond just being a large scale shooter with hubs for towns. The character customization and various things that can be done outside of the FPS portion of the game lead me to believe that this will happen, if so it could lead to long legs as this game becomes more than just a shooter, becoming more of an MMORPG that builds a dedicated community that can slowly convince their friends and others to join.
With recent PC games like S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Shadow of Chernobyl selling 1.65 Million, surprising many people (SE prediction was only 37DKP), I think the same thing will happen here, especially if Webzen can get the hype machine rolling at the right time. Plus, compare this game to Hellgate: London, which we have at 58DKP, even though that game was buggy when released and received negative press. A price point greater than 50DKP seems reasonable to me.
Webzen has confirmed that much-delayed massively multiplayer FPS Huxley will be released in the US in late 2008 on PC. The Xbox 360 will follow around six months later.
Huxley is a fast-paced massively multiplayer shooter set during a mutant war in a post-apocalyptic future, offering both player versus player and player versus environment missions. The Xbox 360 version will also include a single-player campaign.
@Alpha, I completely agree as the last MMOFPSs of memory, Hellgate: London and PlanetSide, have only done marginal sales for their respective developers. Frankly I think that the genre itself is not ready for anything mainstream.
Without seeing anything truly concrete we expect the sales of this game to break 320k? When Quake fails to break 20k, I find it difficult to believe that an untested MMO franchise will outstrip the heir to the FPS throne 15:1.
This title hasn't attracted a whole lot of attention on the simExchange (low trading volume and very few comments). I think the stock price is slightly toward the high end given how poorly extremely high profile PC shooters have sold as of late.
Closed Beta has started in Korea...numerous screenshots and commentary all over the Korean game press...I am buying based on both this and what some of the beta testers I know have told me. I will post further links to screenshots soon
