jeffery said that they are aiming for 'another round number' which you must assume means 10million copies sold between the Wii and DS. now i doubt he would have said that unless they were confident it could get fairly close to that figure at least and possibly beyond. as he said this game has at least 4 months good sales left in it and probably a spike around the time of the olympics, and as its already reached 5million in 3 months so i can see why they're confident.
Even with todays price rise the total is still only around 7.5million copies between the two. Is this game really only going to sell another 2.5million units in the next four months as we run up to the olympics when its already sold 5million in 3? personally i think not.
The game has rocketed off of the blocks since its debut, topping sales charts both in the US and abroad. And while 5 million copies is a major milestone, Sega is expecting to sell even more.
"There have only been three months so far and the Olympics themselves are another four months away," Jeffery said. "We're expecting to sell quite a few million more globally, hopefully between now and the end of this year."
@starship, I think it is better if you just post one article, and post comment (not article) in the other relevant part (game specific part etc), with link to your article. That way, there is no double posting of article, you still get your article upbid (through link at the relevant places) and you don't get any downbid.
@sagexsdx, The other article was posted before Chart Track posted its summary note. After reading summary I thought M&S success (especially outselling #2 game by nearly 4 to 1 ratio) is noteworthy so I decided to post it here to highlight M&S success, as you said.
isnt this the same data/article as you posted here, except this is highlighting the mario and sonic part of it? the article link in the previous post even has the same "summary" block as you have here...
Sega’s ‘Mario & Sonic At The Olympic Games’ is the longest serving All Formats No1 so far this year, notching up a third week in total at the top of the chart.
The Wii version this week accounts for 58% of sales compared to a feeble 7% last week. Sega’s title outsells Activision’s ‘Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare’ at No2 by nearly 4 to 1.
