@flyingpom, The title as a whole moved back up to number 1 mostly due to the sales of the DS version which consituted 93% of the total sales.
If you check the individual charts, the Wii version doesn't even appear in the Top 40 while the DS version is number 1. It is a bit "confusing" to place this news in the Wii stock.
Mario and Sonic at the Olympic Games, has continued to sell well in the United Kingdom - mainly due to DS version. Last week it moved back to the number one place on the sales charts - pushing Devil May Cry back to number 2.
Impressive numbers, this will take off when the Olympics are on. August could be a quietish month this year and it could well top the charts. Last year Bioshock came from relatively nowhere to dominate that month and it remains to be seen what software will release then in 2008
This game now has confirmed sales of 2 million in Japan/UK/US alone and still long potential for selling into the future. Sales of Wii version could reach the 4 million sales forecast alone.
Sega’s ‘Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games’ climbs 2 places to No2 (+85%) thanks to the arrival of the DS version to accompany the huge-selling Wii version (half a million sales in its first 7 weeks).
Although it has reached the top spot in the combined formats charts, Electronic Arts’ Burnout Paradise has failed to outpace Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games at the top of the UK individual format charts, with sales of the Wii exclusive actually rising by seven percent.
@apujanata, With the huge restocks and selling like crazy in the past week (and in this week for sure), it's not that hard to believe the game was approaching 400k very fast. If I understand it correctly, ELSPA list is sorted by the time that each game surpassed that milestone which means Mario & Sonic broke 300k barrier earlier than 6 other games. We know for sure that it sold more than 300k but we don't know how many copies more. It would be anyone's guess. As I said, with crazy sales in the past week, I'm confident in my guess.
