@Joe80, Oops, I hope Nintendo still call this new H/W DS, and lump it together with DS and DSL. Otherwise, the price of DS really, really going to take a nose dive.
It is a pity that I just purchased 2 DS this year (one for my son, another for my wife). Otherwise, I would be able to get the new version. I am not really interested with the music playback capabilities, but I am really, really interested with the camera, and Wireless changes.
According to a report from Nikkei Net, Nintendo will introduce a new iteration of the Nintendo DS later this year, featuring a built-in camera and music playback. The new version of the DS is also reported to have improved wireless functions. Pictures taken via the DS's internal camera can be used by games, opening up new gameplay options.

Americans bought $384.6 million in video game hardware, up 3 percent from a year ago, lead by sales of the handheld Nintendo DS, which sold 518,300 units, according to data from market researcher NPD Group.
we're hearing now that a refresh is indeed inbound and should be debuting in April or May of 2009.
Additionally, we've learned that the revised DS will not only incorporate touch functionality on both screens, but also widescreen aspect ratios. At this point, it's hard to tell whether the redesign will be simply another DS iteration or the DS 2. The new display functionality and shape could either support old titles or require all new ones exclusively.
I noticed two mispelling in the original article : "Septebmer" and "not Metallic Silver" (should be now Metallic Silver). I expected better quality / proof-reading from gamepro.
