"There are different ways to get through the game's story. Quantic have implemented SIXAXIS control in order to open windows, hit objects, and other actions.
You could actually hear what's going on in the mind of the main character, meaning her thoughts. It lets the player know what choices are available to take in the game. The background items and objects in any area are fully interactive. That means all objects can be used, any door can be opened, it is very interactive.
Heavy Rain's length target for one walk through will be 8-12 hours.
Speaking to VG247 at Games Convention, Quantic Dream boss David Cage said a single walk through of top drawer PS3 thriller Heavy Rain is likely to take no more than 12 hours.
“We’re still in the middle of production, so I can’t really tell you the exact time of the game, but we’re targeting a game between eight and 12 hours in gameplay for one walk through,” he said.
this is the best sign i've seen from the games industry in years! for many years i've been hoping that games will break away from books/movies and stand out in what only they can do, nonlinearity... and this is one of the ways. how very very cooool!!!
David Cage, director of Heavy Rain, disclosed an interesting tidbit of info back at LGC: the main character of the game, as seen above, can be killed and the player will still be able to continue the game. "I can't really tell you too much about what the story's about or how it's going to work with the characters, all I can tell you that your character -- the main character -- can die, and the story will continue," Cage told VG247. "You can continue to play, without this character, of course."
Speaking at Games Convention last week, Quantic Dream boss David Cage said that Sony considered stunning thriller Heavy Rain to be “the most important title for next year.”
Heavy Rain director David Cage has confirmed that the highly anticipated thriller will include support for Sony’s PlayStation Home service when the game launches in late 2009.
We have just seen a small part of Sony Computer Entertainment conference rehearsal here at Game Convention in Leipzig, and we are almost certain that a new trailer of Heavy Rain for the PlayStation 3 with ingame footage was broadcasted.
The game will be indeed presented at Sony Conference in a few hours. Release date : 2009 !
this is THE game i'm waiting for. and not even because of the visuals: because it seems to be the only game i know of in the next gen which focuses on where i think gaming needs to go to become truly mainstream: not on gameplay but on story, content... if they do it right this is the game i'll be showing to my non gaming friends: because i hope i can convince them that gaming can be more than button pushing: it can be a truly valid replacement for movies in terms of emotional and story experiences.
