THQ head Brain Farrell revealed during the company’s Q1 earnings call this week that Red Faction: Guerrilla has shifted one million copies since its launch in June 2009.
Farrell highlighted the game as a solid example of THQ’s on-going commitment to producing quality products, with the company’s recent offerings racking up a Metacritic average of 84 percent. By comparison, the previous year saw an average of 80 percent.
Every structure you see in Red Faction: Guerrilla can be taken down by sheer force or with a little ingenuity. Because the tech keeps in mind real-world physics and the buildings architecturally sound, they simply won’t crumble to the ground in a few pieces or in a canned animation.
Along with Halo and the original Medal of Honor games, 2001's Red Faction was one of the first first-person shooters to show that the genre could work on consoles. Unfortunately, that game's disappointing sequel, 2002's Red Faction II, showed that not all do, and that some don't work on a PC, either. Now the series is making a comeback of sorts with Red Faction: Guerilla, which THQ will release on the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC at some point in the next year.
"There are clearly innumerable ways to wreak this kind of havoc, and we have little doubt that exploring them in full will be one of the chief pleasures of Red Faction: Guerrilla. Given that releases are planned for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC, a lot of folks will be experiencing the joy of destruction sometime next year."
hey man, I already posted this here: http://www.thesimexchange.com/news-item.php?id=18132
since it was multi-platform i posted it in industry instead of PS3, which is probably why you missed it. I don't really care, but if you don't remove it people will downbid you.
Red Faction 3 has now been confirmed to be a multi-platform development for the Playstation 3, Xbox 360, and the PC. The game is expected to be released between April 2008 and March 2009.
(Submitter's Note: More likely to be on the latter end of that release spectrum.)
