Anyone else think the Jan future for this is getting out of hand? It's only on sale for 3 days of the NPD reporting period - someone's expecting 700k sales in those 3 days (which don't even include a weekend?).
Dunno about you guys, but I'm shorting the ever-living heck out of it at these prices.
"Perhaps BioWare's greatest success in Mass Effect 2 has been taking a complex RPG and making it effortless to understand, play and enjoy on a constant basis, because it has done this in a manner that should prove utterly essential to veterans and newcomers alike"
EA has announced Mass Effect 2 Collector's Edition, available for $69.99 on Xbox 360 and $59.99 on PC. It includes pretty much what you'd expect from a collector's edition: a tin box, an art book, a DVD with making-of footage, and Issue 1 of the Mass Effect: Redemption comic. It also includes some unique weapons and armor for the game that are limited to this package.
Captain's Log: Stardate: October 16, 2009. Electronic Arts has announced that Mass Effect 2, the next installment in BioWare's epic space opera, will jump to North American and European retail on January 26 and 29, 2010, respectively.
Bioware's previews of Mass Effect 2 at E3 and at GamesCom have been interesting. Asides from the usual raft of comabat & engine improvements, what they've been most keen to talk about is the end. After 60+ hours over two games, the possibility exists that you'll lose your Commander Shepard, for good. How will Bioware's flirtation with permadeath affect the game?
In a chat with PC World, lead producer Casey Hudson spoke at length about the hundreds of ways that actions from the first game, not just "big choices," can change things in the action-RPG sequel due on PC and Xbox 360 early next year.
I did not expect Mass Effect 2 would impress me as much as it did. Moments after leaving the demonstration, hours before I'd be able to compose my thoughts here, I sent a message to my Twitter page announcing that Mass Effect 2 slammed my jaw to the floor. If Mass Effect was BioWare bringing their A-game, Mass Effect 2's looking like what happens when they bring their AAA-game -- if that makes any sense.
The second installment of BioWare's sci-fi action series finally gets more video love today, and this time it's not telling us that the main character is dead. Instead we notice ... well, we'll just let the above video, "Prelude to E3," speak for itself. Just please stop toying with our fragile emotions, already! We'll have hands-on Mass Effect 2 goodness from E3 soon, where we look forward to "killing someone a thousand times."
