Ubisoft Purchases Tom Clancy's Name

Ubisoft announced today it has reached an agreement with Mr. Tom Clancy to acquire all intellectual property rights to the Tom Clancy name, on a perpetual basis and free of all related future royalty payments, for use in video games and ancillary products including related books, movies and merchandising products.

Steam adding over 40 titles from Ubisoft

Valve announced today that Ubisoft will be using the company's Steam digital distribution service and plans to add over 40 other titles from its repertoire soon. Assassin's Creed can be pre-purchased for $50 before its April 9 launch. In the coming weeks Ubisoft will add many more games from the Tom Clancy and Heroes of Might & Magic series. Valve says that the Ubisoft line-up on Steam will be the largest of any publisher using the service.

Rainbow Six Vegas 2 sells 2 million

Ubisoft has raised guidance for the current financial year from €875 million to €920 million for the full financial year, and announced that Rainbow Six Vegas 2 has sold 2 million units. "As expected, 2008 is off to be a record year for the videogame market and our games have performed remarkably well in this context," said Ubisoft boss Yves Guillemot.
