After weeks of the same top five finally some movement. Halo 3 moves back into the top spot for the first time in a couple months. CoD4 is t #2, GTA IV is at #3 and the Too Human demo shows up at #7.

GDC: XNA hits 800,000 downloads

Microsoft's open development platform, XNA Game Studio, has now hit 800,000 downloads since it was first launched 18 months ago. In addition Microsoft is now working with over 400 universities using the software, which is designed for creating basic games quickly and effectively.

Vigilante 8 to be released over XBLA

Activision is bringing back the Twisted Metalesque "Vigilante 8" franchise, with developer Isopod Labs bringing a remake of the decade-old original to Xbox Live Arcade this Spring. The vehicular combat classic will return with a heavy multiplayer aspect, supporting 8 players via Xbox Live or 4 via split-screen multiplayer.

Yesterday we mentioned rumors of a potential Microsoft Japan announcement coming next week, but on Larry "Major Nelson" Hryb's Twitter account, he teases "a special" show coming mid-week that, we'd expect, would feature some fun Microsoft announcement or another.

When asked about Wii�s seemingly unstoppable momentum, Wired quotes Kim as saying: "The generation has a long way to go so it's way too early to declare a winner.

Today, Interactive Data Visualization and Microsoft Game Studios announced that they will be partnering to license SpeedTree software in most of MGS's upcoming products. For the uninformed, SpeedTree is all the rage right now as it pertains to easy implementation of lifelike foliage in video game worlds.
