Entertainment and Devices Division ("EDD") revenue increased primarily due to increased Xbox 360 platform sales. Xbox 360 platform and PC game revenue increased $1.7 billion or 41%. EDD operating loss decreased primarily due to decreased cost of revenue and increased revenue, partially offset by increased research and development expenses and sales and marketing expenses. 4th Quarter loss : $188 Million. Full Year Profit : $426 Million.

Xbox Live is becoming Microsoft’s secret weapon in its battle with Sony to secure lucrative family audiences, the platform holder has told MCV. Paramount Pictures recently signed up to provide movie content to Live’s download-to-rent Video Store on Monday – an extension of a successful collaboration between the two firms in the US over the past 15 months.

“We do not believe the recent reports about HD DVD will have any material impact on the Xbox 360 platform or our position in the marketplace. As we’ve long stated, we believe it is games that sell consoles and Xbox 360 continues to have the largest next-gen games library with the most exclusives and best selling games in the industry. We will wait until we hear from Toshiba before announcing any specific plans around the Xbox 360 HD DVD player.

After being on the market since 2004, earning an average metacritic score of 95 and selling millions upon millions of copies, Microsoft decided Halo 2 could sit among the Max Payne and Shark Tales of the world and officially become a Platinum Hit.

We’ve heard rumblings throughout the week and have yet to get confirmation, but we hope it’s true. Two major companies are working together to bring back XSN. More after the jump: XSN was the original sports line for the Xbox brand. The short lived line of sports games ran from 2003 to 2004 with the face of the line being Peyton Manning who was the cover athlete for NFL Fever.

Kinect Sells 1 Million Units in First Ten Days

According to Microsoft, the Kinect hardware has "sold 1 million" units worldwide in the first ten days since the device launched. Microsoft announced Kinect's sales progress in a press release today and noted the hardware is on pace to hit its recently increased goal of selling five million units by year's end.
