Nintendo stock downgraded on fears of slowing system demand

Joystiq.com - March 20, 2008

Submitted by vGInfidel (150) at 6:39PM PST on March 20, 2008

KBC Securities Japan recently downgraded Nintendo's stock from a "buy" to a "hold" recommendation because of worries that Wii and DS sales will slow after "explosive growth" in the last year. The KBC report also includes a 30 percent cut in its 12-month price estimate for Nintendo stock and is based on worries that the company will see its revenues continue to suffer as a result of the weakening American dollar. KBC's outlook stands in stark contrast to Nintendo's own bullish profit estimates.

Japan's #1 richest people : Hiroshi Yamauchi, Nintendo

Forbes - May 7, 2008

Submitted by apujanata (14935) at 4:43AM PST on May 8, 2008

The biggest gainer was the country's new No. 1, the retired and now largely low-profile Nintendo chairman, Hiroshi Yamauchi, whose net worth soared $3 billion in the past year and has tripled since 2006, thanks mostly to booming sales of the Wii gaming device. Close behind him is last year's richest member on the list, property developer Akira Mori, who gained $2.2 billion but not enough to stay on top.... Kagemasa Kozuki, whose Konami gaming company makes videogames

DS Sales Have Peaked, Say Nintendo

PocketGamer - April 28, 2008

It's called gravity. Everything that goes up must come down. And finally that ol' sales gravity seems to have caught up with the DS. But it's not Pocket Gamer's prognosticators who are making it up. No, this revelation comes direct from Nintendo's own beancounters. Hacking through the pages of Nintendo's financial report for its FY07-08 (April 1st 2007 – March 31st 2008), the situation is clear...

Nintendo: No demos required for Wii Ware titles

joystiq - February 20, 2008

Submitted by ItachiItachi (463) at 3:55PM PST on February 20, 2008

We've been annoyed with the Wii's lack of downloadable Virtual Console demos for quite a while now, so we probably shouldn't be too surprised that Nintendo has declared games in their upcoming Wii Ware service will not be required to have downloadable demos. Surprised isn't really the world ... slightly miffed is more like it.

A look from the mainstream media at the growing third-party support for the Wii, citing lower development costs and the growing customer base. Article is also clear to point out that developers are not reducing interest in XBox 360 or PS3 games, simply elevating their attention to the Wii.
