Activision has released its Q4 and full fiscal year 2008, reporting a record USD 2.9 billion in net revenues for the fiscal year - a 92 per cent increase over the prior fiscal year... "Fiscal 2008 was the best year in our history and Q4 was the largest and most profitable non-holiday quarter, even though we did not release any new titles," said Robert Kotick, chairman and CEO of Activision.

Bungie, the developer of blockbuster game franchises including Halo, Myth and Marathon, and Activision, announced today that they have entered into an exclusive 10-year partnership to bring Bungie's next big action game universe to market. Under the terms of the agreement, Activision will have exclusive, worldwide rights to publish and distribute all future Bungie games based on the new intellectual property on multiple platforms and devices.

As the game industry restructures itself around the production of increasingly expensive big-budget titles many studios are opting to go multiplatform with their latest releases in order to maximize return on investment. This situation leaves certain companies scratching their heads and wondering how, in an environment of broad consumer choice, they can manage to package their own "exclusive" content in a manner that will get people to buy from them rather than the other guy.
