Ensemble: "Microsoft made a mistake"

DPAD - November 17, 2008

Submitted by OuterHaven (570) at 12:11PM PST on November 17, 2008

Ensemble Studios’ Graeme Devine has stated that he believes Microsoft made a mistake in shutting down the studios. Talking to us last week, Devine stated: "It’d be very easy for us to just finish a game, mail it in and sell that but we are not really in it for that". It’s our proud shout to Microsoft, and the reason why their mistake is so obvious.” He also revealed that he will not be working for the new studio that is being formed from parts of Ensemble.

Submitted by llonesmiz (508) at 6:46AM PST on February 22, 2008

On Wednesday, John Schappert stood in front of the Game Developers Conference and introduced a new initiative to put community-made games on Xbox Live, and of course helped unveil Gears of War 2. We caught up with John a day later to talk about 360 hardware sales, the Wii and PS3, how the XNA, Xbox Live and Zune relationships will work, and of course what happens now that HD-DVD has died on its arse.

Robbie Bach dumps $6.2 Million in MS Stock

Kotaku - July 12, 2007

Submitted by pilias_simber (122) at 6:31AM PST on July 12, 2007

You got faith in the Xbox 360? Robbie Bach, as president of Microsoft's entertainment and devices unit, should. So it's a little sus that between May 2 and the very day of Microsoft's big "sorry your 360s keep dying" announcement, Bach offloaded more than $6.2 million in company stocks. Now, top execs do this all the time, which they're perfectly entitled to do - thing is, they make sure to schedule any sales, so that it doesn't look like they're trading based off insider information. Bach's sales weren't scheduled, and he hadn't sold a single stock in the previous eight months.

MS to release free music on XBL

PC World - June 5, 2007

Submitted by pilias_simber (122) at 4:57PM PST on June 5, 2007

Today's wired/wireless world offers us a fascinating array of entertainment choices, and has made it so that radio is no longer the primary means with which we discover new music, as it was 30, 20, or even just 10 years ago. Microsoft is now offering yet another method of discovering new acts through their unveiling of Ignition, a program that gives much needed exposure to new musical acts. "The Ignition program is designed to help artists connect with a substantial consumer audience," said Christina Calio, director of Music Marketing for Zune. "Consumers are looking for ways to find new music, and Ignition helps connect artists with potential new fans by giving them multiple opportunities to listen to, watch or read about the artist across Microsoft's online platforms."

Does MS' One, Two, Three Punch Matter?

kotaku - November 2, 2007

Submitted by pilias_simber (122) at 5:05AM PST on November 2, 2007

The last two days in Japan: Cheaper Xbox 360 goes on sale, discounted THE iDOLM@STER goes on sale and today, Ace Combat 6 goes on sale. For a console as something that didn't appeal to Japanese gamers, there seems to be a lot appealing about it of late: THE iDOLM@STER has a rabid hardcore fan base, while AC6 has an across-the-board built-in audience.
