The Financial Times Germany published a story saying that Microsoft will cut the price for the Xbox 360 on Monday across Europe. The Xbox 360 Arcade is supposed to sell for only 199 Euro instead of 280 Euro. A 199 Euro Xbox 360 would be 50 Euro cheaper than a Nintendo Wii.

MS No SKU Changes, Demand for Elite > Supply

Engadget - February 1, 2008

Submitted by Animate (241) at 4:56PM PST on February 2, 2008

"Naturally curious as to why Xbox 360 Elites are so difficult to find, we went straight to the source -- and Microsoft tells us that demand is simply outstripping supply on the 360 Elite right now, and that no model lineup changes are planned at this time -- especially since the Elite is their hot seller. Well, so much for that conspiracy -- guess we're back to reading the PS3 tea leaves."

Which controller has the best battery life?

So it would make sense to think the added density and tactile feedback would drain batteries with haste, but our lab results proved quite the contrary. The Xbox 360 controller endured an impressive 56 hours and 56 minutes, the most of any wireless controller we tested.

A Microsoft rep has confirmed a recent rumor of Xbox 360 premiums having HDMI included. You can look for a sticker on the new boxes to know which ones do and do not have the HDMI port. There is not a separate sku or price for these models.

(UK)Xbox 360 price cut coming this month

MCVUK - March 5, 2008

Submitted by llonesmiz (508) at 5:44AM PST on March 5, 2008

MCV has it on very good authority that Microsoft is planning an Xbox 360 price cut at the end of the month, which will allow its lower-spec Arcade model to compete with Nintendo’s Wii on price. In what is being seen as a significant move to attract the family market, that would mean a dip from Arcade’s current price of £199.99 to something closer to £179.99.

Shane Kim, Microsoft's corporate VP in charge of strategy and business for Interactive Entertainment, was unsurprisingly upbeat about his company's performance at E3 this year, and revealed that Microsoft was working on a ten-year lifecycle for the Xbox 360 - vocalising for the first time a similar strategy to Sony's long-held plans"We firmly believe that the Xbox 360 has a life cycle through 2015 (ten years after the launch)," he said..
