In a bid to woo Japanese gamers, who are largely disinterested in the Xbox 360, Microsoft has announced that it will launch the Xbox 360 Arcade in Japan. The Arcade will go on sale there at ¥27,800 (£131.56) on March 6th. That's ¥7,000 (£33) less than the cheapest model currently available there.

Rumor: Gates to Announce DVR 360 at CES?

Kotaku - December 31, 2007

Submitted by lstormy10 (294) at 2:18PM PST on December 31, 2007

"Bill Gates might be making an Xbox 360 2.0 announcement at his CES keynote swan song, the Seattle Times' Brier Dudley predicts in a column today. While I'm not totally on-board with his prediction for Gates' 360 announcements at CES this weekend, I agree with the main thrust. Dudley believes that after doing some inevitable crowing Gates will wow the crowds with an announcement that Microsoft is preparing to license the 360 platform to select consumer electronic companies."

MS Introduce Point Gift-Giving

Kotaku - December 24, 2007

Submitted by ixaarii (444) at 4:17AM PST on December 24, 2007

"Not to be outdone by those charitable bastards at Nintendo, Microsoft have kicked off a (beta) scheme whereby any Xbox Live, GFW Live or even Zune user can donate MS points to a friend as a gift. As it's a beta, the service is somewhat limited at the moment, as you need to know the person's Windows LIVE ID, but Microsoft spokesman Larry Hryb says a request to be able to gift points to someone using just their gamertag is in the pipeline."

Xbox 360 Falcon Chips Have Landed!

Kotaku - October 1, 2007

"It's what many have been waiting for. The new 65nm "Falcon" CPUs are found in the Halo 3 console. Besides being smaller, the 65nm chip is fifty percent less expensive to manufacture and apparently are more economic in heat output."

New 360's may have HDMI, 65 nm CPU, quiet DVD Drives &

Arstechnica - August 8, 2007

Submitted by Animate (241) at 12:01PM PST on August 8, 2007

Rumor that aligns with previous info: "According to my source, Microsoft wants to cut through all their existing inventory of hardware. They will then quietly "soft launch" a new version of the Core and Premium hardware in late August or September that will include an HDMI port. It's also expected that this new hardware will feature the 65nm process for the CPU and quieter DVD drives." & better cooling. There will be something on the box that calls attention to the new HDMI out feature. Will happen ~AUG/SEPT.

According to an inside source, about two weeks ago all EB Games stores in Australia were told to return every Xbox 360 they had in stock. Indeed a look on the EB Games Web site shows that the Xbox 360 is "sold out" at every store we checked.
