Microsoft Corp. doubled sales of the Xbox 360 video game machine last weekend after cutting the price by as much as 29 percent to narrow Nintendo Co.'s lead. Retailers reported a 100 percent increase in sales for all models compared with the previous weekend, Redmond, Washington- based Microsoft said in an e-mailed statement.

This morning, Motus Games officially unveiled its Darwin motion controller on its website, with videos including one showing the Darwin being used as a lightsaber with LEGO Star Wars. It had us wondering - is this the long-rumored Xbox 360 motion controller?

With HD DVD, Microsoft had the opportunity to inject its own technology into the emerging high-definition video market. But now that the HD disc war is over, the company still has a viable group of HD video assets, including HDi and Xbox Live Marketplace.

1UP has gone hands-on with the update to uncover all its virtual secrets. Xbox 360 now supports MPEG-4, which means the box now plays both DivX and XviD files without a hitch. Friends of Friends, Xbox Originals, RSS feeds. Also new to this update is a completely re-designed and re-thought layout of the Xbox Live Marketplace.

Members will now be able to check out the friends lists of fellow Xbox LIVE members right from the Dashboard.
