Submitted by sonycowboy (515) at 8:13AM PST on February 15, 2008

Things have gone from bad to worse for HD DVD in the space of one week. Wal-Mart announced Friday morning that it, too, has chosen a side in the battle for high-definition video supremacy: by June it will only stock Blu-ray Disc players. A buyer in Wal-Mart's video division wrote this morning on her Wal-Mart Checkout blog that the retail giant had made the decision following Netflix and Best Buy's high-profile announcements that they will exclusively stock Blu-ray products.

Playstation 3 outsells 360 down under in 2007

Sydney Herald - February 14, 2008

Submitted by sonycowboy (515) at 7:57PM PST on February 13, 2008

Australian PS3 sales for the year eclipsed Microsoft's Xbox 360 and sales in PS3's crucial home territory of Japan are also lifting. (NOTE: The number likely includes some percentage of 30k given away with the purchase of a Sony Bravia TV post Christmas, which might color the victory somewhat)

Sony: MMOs will become ‘selling point’ for PS3

MCV - May 12, 2008

Submitted by Rol83 (481) at 7:33AM PST on May 12, 2008

President of Sony Online Entertainment John Smedley believes that PS3’ upcoming slate of MMOs will help distance the console’s offering from that of Xbox 360. Speaking to The Seattle Times, Smedley said that titles such as The Agency would see MMOs become ‘a strong selling point’ for the PS3. Smedley also said that MMOs are set to become far more mass market in the near future.

SCEE: 1st party price increase was official

Kotaku - February 4, 2008

Submitted by deftangel (291) at 11:27AM PST on February 4, 2008

"...as is well documented, PS3 has been a very expensive console to produce and sell. The losses are public knowledge. About six months into the year we realised we needed to increase our revenue on software to be honest. We're still in line with third parties, and it was just a business decision regarding profitability."
