PlayStation 3 (PS3) users in Europe will soon be able to record and playback digital TV on their console. Sony has unveiled a TV tuner which plugs into the PS3 and turns it into a personal video recorder like Sky . The company has held a press conference at the Leipzig games show in which it highlighted key multimedia capabilities for the PS3 and handheld PSP.

SCE president Kaz Hirai says that Sony may consider the possibility of shelling out to secure exclusive third party releases for PlayStation 3, while the company will be pushing for exclusive content on PS3 versions of multiplatform titles.

At Sony's PlayStation Day event, the company announced that it has sold more PS3 consoles than Microsoft has sold Xbox 360 consoles in Europe, despite the earlier launch of the latter. SCEE president and CEO David Reeves said that Sony has sold 12 million PSP handhelds and 48 million PS2 consoles in Europe. "I'm also delighted to announce today that we have sold over 5 million PlayStation 3's throughout Europe," Reeves said.

Our BFFs over at PS3 Fanboy have noticed something interesting about the "Accomplishments" received while playing the PS3 version of Devil May Cry 4. Though it's not the first game to copy and paste the in-game achievements from the 360 version, DMC4 is the first title to recognize the accomplishments with a PS3 system screen, rather than an in-game notice.

Over in Japan, business site Nikkei.net has a consumer poll that shows where console's internet use stand. In a six month period, both the Wii and the PS3 show drops in users using online, while the Xbox 360 increases by 0.01 percent.

Sony is running a survey over in Asia where a question on the list asks “Which of the following offer from PLAYSTATION®Store (PC) that you find it appealing?”. One of the selectable answers is “Monthly subscription plan (1 price for unlimited download).”
