"As confirmed character Chris Redfield moves from light areas to dark and vice versa, aiming (and indeed seeing) will be impossible, as his eyes must first adjust to the light. Gameplay-wise, the over-the-shoulder mechanic from RE4 will be present, with the player's character appearing on the left of the screen. But here comes some bad news. With the game still some way from completion, it seems likely it won't ship until the end of 2008. Even (whisper it) possibly as late as 2009. But Takeuchi did say 2010 would be "too late.""

Accoring to Geoff Keighley's blog, the new trailer for RESIDENT EVIL 5 will debut on the May 30th episode of GameTrailers TV. This is your first chance to see the gameplay in an extensive trailer that will blow you away. Also look out for some major hints about the story.

Sadly for everyone attending, Resident Evil 5 wasn't able to be played by commoners at Capcom's Captivate 08 event, but we were some of the first on the globe to see a playable version, so we're not complaining.

Capcom CFO Kazuhiko Abe revealed that RE 5 has sold just shy of 5 million copies worldwide. Abe says 4.4 million copies were sold worldwide in March, while a further 500,000+ (Abe says "sales came to as many as 570,000 units") in April has the game at around 4.9 million units sold. Add in any sales made so far during May - which haven't been recorded yet outside of Japan - and it's likely passed 5 million.

This week's Famitsu Magazine has news that the Xbox 360 demo for RE5 will be dropping in Japan on December 5th. Our team have also revealed that development on RE5 is proceeding faster than predicted and, the release date of RE5 in Japan is moving up one week to March 5, 2009. The demo will be hitting N. America and Europe a bit later.

Over four million gamers worldwide have downloaded the demo for Capcom's upcoming Resident Evil 5 for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. The survival horror shooter's demo was initially released on December 5th to Xbox 360 owners in Japan, where it was downloaded by over 53 percent of Japanese Xbox Live gold members. Microsoft also made an Xbox 360 trial available in North America and Europe starting January 26th, as part of a one-week platform exclusive.

Capcom is proud to announce that the first shipment of “Resident Evil 5,” has shipped more than 4 million copies worldwide. Many players’ expectations were raised by playing through the demo, which was downloaded over 4 million times. This all culminated in the largest first shipment of any title for the series to date.
