It's been a fairly big Tokyo Game Show for Gran Turismo 5. At the Sony conference centering on Japan, it was announced that the Land of the Rising Sun would see the game in March, that there would be 20 locations with a total of 70 track variations, that there'd be more than 950 cars in the game including hybrids and electrics, and so much more. Plus, the show... Even better? You can damage those rides. (video incl.)

Perhaps the most most interesting tidbit to come from the interview was a comment Kaz made on the release date. When questioned if GT5 would hit in 2010, Kazunori laughed and said the title will be "released sooner than expected". So GT5 in 2009? Sounds like Polyphony's down.

Series creators Polyphony Digital have broken with tradition and included an F1 car in Gran Turismo 5. For the bargain-basement price of 2 million in-game credits, you'll be able to pick up the Ferrari F2007 and take it for a spin. Poignantly, this is being called "God Mode".

Sony release schedule reveals date and price of upcoming racer. The prologue to the fifth Gran Turismo is due to hit shelves on the 28th March, and will be priced at £24.99. A downloadable version of the game is also due. GTGT5: Prologue March 5 Prologue is set to contain ten tracks, 37 vehicles, and four game modes, and is one of the most anticipated games for the Playstation 3.

Sony's Gran Turismo 5 Prologue has made its debut in the Japanese charts at number three, selling 116,000 copies according to data from Media Create. However, it's the only PlayStation 3 title in the top twenty, with Nintendo Wii and DS product clogging up the charts for the week ended December 16.
