Why we should fear Wii Fit

phGamer - December 1, 2007

Nintendo’s Wii Fit was recently released in Japan just in time for the holidays at around $80. Online retailers such as play-asia have it on stock for $189.90. As I heard this news, I couldn’t help but flashback to this years E3. Specifically, when Miyamato’s next big game was revealed, Wii Fit. At this point, I believe a deafening silence swept Nintendo fan-boys everywhere.

Miyamoto Speaks: Wii Fit, Design Challenges And More

Some interesting tidbits : it is true that Americans typically are bigger than Japanese people, particularly when it comes to their feet. In that sense, we did early on, in terms of developing the Balance Board, have a rather large American named Reggie stand on the Balance Board and measure whether or not our early prototypes were big enough for his feet and made changes based on that. (Note : Reggie is CEO of NoA).

Miyamoto Wanted Wii Fit To Weigh Pets, Too

Kotaku - April 24, 2008

Submitted by alexanderpas (952) at 12:42PM PST on April 25, 2008

Nintendo design boss Shigeru Miyamoto had wanted to include a mode that would allow players to weigh their pets. He wasn't able to include it in the Japanese version, but in the North American version, available May 19th, players will receive a message informing them that if they weigh themselves while holding their pets, then weigh themselves again separately and subtract the two, the difference will tell them how much their pet weighs.

"All retailers in the UK and Ireland have been aware of their Wii Fit allocations for launch since early March and as such we would see any stopping of pre-orders a sensible precaution on their part to ensure all current orders are met. Many retailers are still accepting pre-orders and we would advise people to shop around to secure their copy."
