At Nintendo's press briefing in Japan today, the company finally announced a new Wii channel that will allow gamers to download demos for their DS. Called Minna no Nintendo Channel (Everybody's Nintendo Channel), the service will act much like the download kiosks often seen in retail locations like Target and Best Buy -- only now you'll be able to download demos from the comfort of your living room. The new channel will arrive on Japanese Wiis next month. While we wait for a U.S. release, check out the first screenshots below.

Slide sensor bundled with new title Nintendo Japan has revealed a new slide sensor for the DS, which effectively turns the handheld into an optical mouse. Retailing in Japan for JPY 5,800 (GBP 24 / EUR 35), it comes bundled with a new game called Slide Adventure: Mag Kid - based around a small robot that has to reassemble itself from salvaged enemies. The emergence of a new product follows news earlier this week of Nintendo filing a patent for motion-sensing technology on a handheld. Nintendo Europe was unavailable to comment on plans to release the product outside of Japan.
