pre-orders started for Nintendo's 1seg DS tuner peripheral. The peripheral, which makes the DS capable of receiving 1seg digital television broadcasts, is being sold exclusively through Nintendo's e-commerce site. Based on a report from Sankei News, one sales source may not be enough for the item. The news site reports that the start of pre-orders caused such a rush that Nintendo's servers were overloaded and people were left unable to connect.

Nintendo has achieved over 700,000 unit sales of the DS Lite in Australia, with the Wii also continuing to "perform well." Director of sales and marketing Rose Lappin also announced the company's software line-up for the rest of the year, which includes The Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass for the DS.
